London Underground Strike Hits Passengers Hard
RMT and ASLEF Members Walk Out in Dispute Over Pay and Conditions
London's Underground system has been severely disrupted by strike action from members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers' (RMT) and Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen (ASLEF) unions.
The two unions are demanding pay increases in line with the rising cost of living, as well as improvements to working conditions and job security.
The strike action has caused major delays and cancellations across the London Underground network, with many stations closed and services suspended.
The strike is part of a wave of industrial action across the UK rail network, with members of the RMT and ASLEF also taking action on other rail lines.
The National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) and the Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen (ASLEF) have announced a series of strikes on the London Underground.
The strikes, which will take place on 19th and 21st August, are part of a long-running dispute over pay and conditions.
The RMT is demanding a pay increase of 7%, while ASLEF is seeking a 10% increase.
Both unions are also calling for improvements to working conditions, including a reduction in working hours and an end to the use of driver-only operated trains.
Transport for London (TfL) has said that it is "deeply disappointed" by the strike action and has urged the unions to reconsider.
TfL has also said that it will be running a reduced service on the days of the strike and has advised passengers to check before they travel.
