Mullins eyes Irish success in Melbourne Cup
Irish trainer Willie Mullins is hoping for a first Melbourne Cup success with Max Dynamite in Tuesday's A$8m race.
The seven-year-old gelding is one of four Irish-trained horses in the field for the two-mile contest at Flemington.
Mullins has saddled the winner of the Cheltenham Gold Cup, the world's most prestigious jumps race, for the past three years and has high hopes for Max Dynamite in Australia.
"He's in great form and we're very happy with him," said Mullins. "He's a tough horse and he stays well, so we think he's got a good chance."
Max Dynamite will be ridden by leading Irish jockey Ryan Moore and is a general 12-1 chance for the race.
Mullins also has three other runners in the Melbourne Cup - Wicklow Brave, Stratum and Almandin.
Wicklow Brave is a 20-1 chance, while Stratum and Almandin are both 25-1 shots.
Mullins is one of the most successful trainers in the world and has won over 4,000 races during his career.
He has also trained the winners of the Grand National, the Irish Grand National and the Champion Hurdle.
Mullins is hoping to add the Melbourne Cup to his list of major victories and believes that Max Dynamite has a good chance of winning the race.
