Ekpiteta Extremely Frustrated After Dundee United Draw
Frustration For Dundee United Defender After Late Equaliser
Dundee United defender, Mihail Ekpiteta, has expressed his frustration after his side conceded a late equaliser against St Johnstone on Saturday.
The game seemed destined to end in a narrow victory for United, but Nicky Clark's 87th-minute strike secured a point for the visitors.
Ekpiteta, who was making his first start for the club since returning from injury, admitted that he was disappointed with the result.
"We're all extremely frustrated," he said. "We felt like we had done enough to win the game, but we just couldn't see it out."
The result leaves Dundee United in eighth place in the Scottish Premiership, four points behind third-placed Aberdeen.
Ekpiteta Praises Team Performance
Despite his frustration, Ekpiteta was keen to praise the performance of his team-mates.
"I thought we played really well for large parts of the game," he said. "We created a lot of chances and we defended well for the most part."
Ekpiteta believes that Dundee United can take heart from their performance and use it as a springboard for success in the coming weeks.
"We're still a work in progress, but I think we're heading in the right direction," he said. "We just need to keep working hard and the results will come.
Manager Jack Ross Shares Ekpiteta's Frustration
Dundee United manager, Jack Ross, echoed Ekpiteta's frustration at the result.
"I'm very disappointed," he said. "I thought we deserved to win the game, but we made a mistake at the end and we were punished."
Ross believes that Dundee United need to learn from their mistakes and improve their concentration in the closing stages of games.
"We need to be more ruthless in front of goal and we need to be more solid at the back," he said. "If we can do that, we'll start to win more games."
Dundee United Face Tough Test Next
Dundee United will be looking to bounce back from their disappointing draw when they face Aberdeen in their next match.
The game will be a tough test for United, but Ekpiteta is confident that his team can get a positive result.
"Aberdeen are a good team, but we're confident that we can beat them," he said. "We'll need to be at our best, but we're ready for the challenge.
