Man arrested over burglary at Ben Stokes’ home
Police say a 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary after a break-in at Ben Stokes' home.
The incident is said to have happened in the early hours of Wednesday morning, with the England and Durham all-rounder reporting that a number of items were stolen.
A Nottinghamshire Police spokesperson said: "We were called to a report of a burglary at a residential property in Castle Drive, Gedling, at around 4am on Wednesday, December 28.
"A 26-year-old man was arrested a short time later on suspicion of burglary and remains in police custody.
"Inquiries are ongoing."
Stokes is one of England's most high-profile cricketers, having played a key role in the team's recent successes in the 50-over and 20-over World Cups.
He also featured heavily in England's Test series victory over New Zealand which concluded earlier this month.
Stokes bought the six-bedroom property in 2015 for £1.7m. It's located on a private road in a secluded area of Gedling, Nottinghamshire.
The home has a large garden, a swimming pool and a gym.
The news of the break-in comes just days after Stokes was named the BBC Sports Personality of the Year.
