Line of Duty star says she wants Jed Mercurio to do character spin-off
Vicky McClure wants a spin-off show following anti-corruption detective Kate Fleming
Vicky McClure has said she would love to reprise her role as anti-corruption detective Kate Fleming in a Line of Duty spin-off show.
Speaking at a Q&A at BFI Southbank, McClure said she would be "up for it" if creator Jed Mercurio wanted to do a spin-off.
'I'd be up for it'
"I love playing Kate," she said. "I think she's a brilliant character. She's so strong and determined."
She added: "I think a spin-off would be a great way to explore her character further."Line of Duty is a police procedural drama series that follows the work of anti-corruption unit AC-12. The show has been praised for its realistic portrayal of police work and its complex characters.
McClure has played the role of Kate Fleming since the show's inception in 2012. Fleming is a detective constable who is dedicated to her job and is always willing to go the extra mile.
She has been involved in some of the show's most high-profile cases, including the investigation into the murder of Detective Superintendent Tony Gates.
In recent years, there have been rumors that Mercurio is planning a spin-off show focusing on Fleming.
However, no official announcement has been made.
