Boughton-under-Blean: Man jailed for life for pub stabbing murder

Killer punched and stabbed his victim in the street because he believed he was having an affair with his ex-partner

A man has been jailed for life for murdering a man who was stabbed to death outside a pub.

Luke Huttley, 28, attacked 54-year-old Andrew Michael outside the White Horse in Boughton-under-Blean, near Canterbury, on June 16 last year.

Huttley had drunk 10 pints before the attack

Maidstone Crown Court heard that Huttley had drunk 10 pints of lager at the pub before the attack.

He then punched Mr. Michael in the face before stabbing him multiple times in the chest.

Victim died at the scene

Mr. Michael, from Herne Bay, died at the scene.

In a statement, his family said they were "devastated" by his death.

Killer claimed victim had been having an affair with ex-partner

Huttley, of no fixed address, denied murder but was found guilty by a jury.

He claimed that he believed Mr. Michael was having an affair with his ex-partner.

Jealousy was the motive for the attack

However, the prosecution said that jealousy was the motive for the attack.

Huttley was jailed for life with a minimum term of 20 years.

Detective praises bravery of witnesses

Detective Inspector Ross Gurden, of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, said: "This was a senseless and brutal attack that has resulted in the tragic loss of a life.

"I would like to praise the bravery of the witnesses who came forward to help us with our investigation.

"Our thoughts are with Andrew's family and friends at this difficult time."
