Edu: Arsenal Technical Director Set to Raid Former Club Palmeiras for Endrick
Palmeiras’ Endrick is a Target for Edu
Arsenal's Technical Director, Edu Gaspar, is reportedly interested in signing Palmeiras' 16-year-old striker Endrick Felipe Moreira de Sousa, commonly known as Endrick. Endrick is widely regarded as one of the most promising young talents in world football and has attracted interest from several top European clubs.
Edu, who played for Arsenal from 2001 to 2005, has a strong relationship with Palmeiras. He spent three years at the Brazilian club as a player and also worked as their sporting director from 2019 to 2021. Edu is believed to be confident that he can persuade Endrick to join Arsenal, despite the interest from other clubs.
Endrick’s Impressive Record
Endrick has been in impressive form for Palmeiras’ youth teams, scoring over 170 goals in 120 games. He made his first-team debut in July 2022 and has since scored three goals in seven appearances. Endrick has also represented Brazil at youth level, scoring five goals in six appearances for the under-17 team. He was one of the standout players at the 2022 South American Under-17 Championship, where he helped Brazil win the tournament and was named the best player.
A Difficult Transfer
However, signing Endrick will not be easy for Arsenal. Palmeiras are reluctant to sell their prized asset and are likely to demand a high transfer fee. Endrick is also under contract with Palmeiras until 2025, so Arsenal would have to negotiate a deal with the Brazilian club.
Other Options for Arsenal
If Arsenal are unsuccessful in signing Endrick, they may turn their attention to other targets. They have been linked with a move for Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk, who is seen as a potential replacement for Bukayo Saka. Arsenal are also interested in signing a new central midfielder, with Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans and Brighton’s Moises Caicedo among the players who have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium.
