A power outage in Colorado Springs on Tuesday morning has closed part of Interstate 25 and left thousands of people without power.
The outage was first reported around 5:30 a.m. and is affecting an area from downtown Colorado Springs to the city's north side.
Colorado Springs Utilities said the outage was caused by a failure at a substation near downtown.
Crews are working to repair the equipment, but it is not clear when power will be restored.
The outage has closed part of Interstate 25 between Exit 146 (Woodmen Road) and Exit 150 (Academy Boulevard).
Drivers are being advised to find alternate routes.
The outage is also affecting traffic on other major roads in the area, including Academy Boulevard, Platte Avenue, and Nevada Avenue.
In the meantime, the utility is asking customers to conserve energy by turning off unnecessary lights and appliances.
