Poole: Fire at recycling centre near Tower Park

Firefighters were called to a large fire at a recycling centre in Poole, Dorset, on Tuesday evening.

The fire broke out at about 7pm at the site on Tower Park, off Poole Road.

Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said it sent 10 fire engines to the scene, along with an aerial ladder platform.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.

No one was reported injured in the blaze, but thick black smoke could be seen billowing from the site.

The fire service said it was likely to be at the scene for several hours.

Tower Park is a large industrial estate on the outskirts of Poole. It is home to a number of businesses, including the recycling centre and a waste management company.

The fire is the second large blaze at a recycling centre in Dorset in recent months. In August, a fire at a recycling centre in Swanage caused extensive damage.

The cause of that fire is still being investigated.
