Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal closing on club-record signing after returning with improved offer

Sources close to Arsenal have revealed that the club is determined to land Mykhaylo Mudryk despite having a previous offer rejected by Shakhtar Donetsk.

Arsenal is closing in on a club-record signing after reportedly returning with an improved offer of around £67 million. This news comes just days after the Gunners had an opening bid of £55 million rejected by Shakhtar Donetsk.

The Ukrainian club is believed to be holding out for a fee in the region of £85 million, but Arsenal is confident that they can agree on a compromise that will see Mudryk move to the Emirates Stadium before the end of the January transfer window.

Mudryk, a 22-year-old winger, has been one of the most sought-after players in Europe this summer, having caught the eye with his performances for Shakhtar Donetsk and the Ukraine national team.

He has scored 10 goals in 18 appearances for Shakhtar Donetsk this season and has also provided 8 assists. He has also been capped 8 times by Ukraine, scoring 3 goals.

Arsenal is believed to be keen on adding Mudryk to their squad as they look to strengthen their attacking options. The Gunners have been short of goals this season, having scored just 29 goals in 19 Premier League games.

Mudryk would provide Arsenal with much-needed pace and creativity in the final third. He is a direct and dangerous winger who can beat defenders with his dribbling skills and create chances for his teammates.

If Arsenal can sign Mudryk, it would represent a major coup for the club. He is one of the most exciting young players in Europe and has the potential to become a world-class player.
