Pakistan has picked a 16-member squad for the three-match ODI series against Australia
LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Tuesday announced a 16-member squad for the three-match ODI series against Australia, beginning March 29 in Rawalpindi.
Mohammad Rizwan will lead the side for the first time in ODIs. The wicketkeeper-batter was appointed as the captain in all three formats following the team's disappointing performance in the T20 World Cup last year.
Squad for Australia ODIs
The squad includes several new faces, including uncapped batter Tayyab Tahir and pacer Mohammad Hasnain.

Schedule
The ODI series will be played as follows:
- March 29: 1st ODI at Pindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi
- March 31: 2nd ODI at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore
- April 2: 3rd ODI at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore
The ODIs are part of Pakistan's preparations for the ICC Champions Trophy, which will be held in India from October 6 to 22.
Mohammad Rizwan seeks ideal team combination
Rizwan said he is looking to find the ideal team combination for the Champions Trophy during the ODI series against Australia.
"We have a good squad and we are looking to find the best combination for the Champions Trophy," he said. "We have some new players in the squad and we are excited to see how they perform."
Rizwan also said that the team is confident of doing well against Australia.
"Australia is a strong team but we are confident of doing well against them," he said. "We have been playing well in recent months and we are looking to continue our good form."
Pakistan will be looking to avenge their 2-1 ODI series defeat to Australia in March 2022.
