Wicklow TD Joins Local Firefighters in Charity Spinathon

Wicklow TD Jennifer Whitmore joined local firefighters yesterday in a 24-hour spinathon to raise funds for the Wicklow Fire Service Benevolent Fund. The event saw dozens of firefighters take turns cycling on static bikes at Wicklow Town Fire Station, with Whitmore joining them for an hour-long stint.

The annual spinathon is a key fundraiser for the Wicklow Fire Service Benevolent Fund, which provides financial assistance to firefighters and their families who have suffered injury or hardship.

Whitmore said she was delighted to support the firefighters and the Benevolent Fund. "Our firefighters put their lives on the line every day to protect our communities, and it is important that we support them and their families in return," she said.

The spinathon raised over €10,000 for the Benevolent Fund, which will be used to provide financial assistance to firefighters and their families in need.

Wicklow Fire Service Benevolent Fund spokesperson John O'Brien said the charity was grateful for the support of Whitmore and the local community. "The money raised from this event will make a real difference to the lives of our firefighters and their families," he said.
