'We learnt our lessons' – Kaminski previews Crystal Palace's home clash against Manchester City
Eagles welcome champions to Selhurst Park looking to avoid a repeat of the 7-0 drubbing they suffered at the Etihad Stadium on the opening weekend
Crystal Palace goalkeeper Jack Butland admits the heavy defeat at Manchester City on the opening weekend of the season was a "lesson" for the Eagles.
The Eagles shipped seven goals against the Premier League champions and Pep Guardiola’s charges could put the south Londoners to the sword again when they travel to Selhurst Park on Saturday.
Speaking ahead of the clash, Butland said: "It was a harsh lesson on the first day of the season. But this is a new season. We learnt our lessons that day and we need to continue to learn and get better."
City are heading into the clash off the back of an impressive 4-0 victory against Bournemouth on Saturday, while Patrick Vieira’s side claimed a point in a goalless stalemate at Brentford on Friday.
The 29-year-old stopper continued: "We’ve come a long way since then and we’re now looking forward to this weekend’s game against Manchester City."
Can Palace avoid another hammering?
Crystal Palace will be hoping to avoid a repeat of their 7-0 defeat to Manchester City on the opening weekend of the season when the champions visit Selhurst Park on Saturday.
The Eagles were outclassed by Pep Guardiola’s side at the Etihad Stadium and will need to be at their best to avoid another heavy defeat.
Butland admits that Palace have learnt their lessons from that game and are confident of putting in a better performance this time around.
