Flacco Leads Minnesota to 34-26 Victory on Sunday Night Football
Vikings Improve to 2-0, Colts Fall to 0-2
The Minnesota Vikings defeated the Indianapolis Colts 34-26 on Sunday Night Football. The Vikings improved to 2-0 on the season, while the Colts fell to 0-2. Joe Flacco started at quarterback for the Vikings in place of the injured Kirk Cousins and threw for 249 yards and three touchdowns. Dalvin Cook rushed for 111 yards and a touchdown for the Vikings. Marlon Mack rushed for 109 yards and a touchdown for the Colts.
The Vikings took an early 10-0 lead in the first quarter on a 38-yard field goal by Dan Bailey and a 1-yard touchdown run by Cook. The Colts responded with a 47-yard field goal by Rodrigo Blankenship, but the Vikings extended their lead to 17-3 on a 1-yard touchdown pass from Flacco to Kyle Rudolph.
The Colts closed the gap to 17-10 on a 1-yard touchdown run by Mack, but the Vikings took a 24-10 lead into halftime on a 15-yard touchdown pass from Flacco to Justin Jefferson.
The Colts made it a one-score game in the third quarter on a 9-yard touchdown pass from Philip Rivers to T.Y. Hilton, but the Vikings answered back with a 27-yard field goal by Bailey. The Colts cut the lead to 27-23 on a 1-yard touchdown run by Jonathan Taylor, but the Vikings put the game away with a 4-yard touchdown pass from Flacco to Adam Thielen.
The Vikings will host the Tennessee Titans next Sunday, while the Colts will host the New York Jets.
