USD Volleyball Drops Season Opener to SMU in Hawaii
Toreros Fall in Four Sets in Honolulu
San Diego, Calif. - The University of San Diego women's volleyball team dropped its season opener to SMU in four sets (25-21, 23-25, 25-16, 25-16) on Thursday night in Honolulu, Hawaii.
The Toreros were led by junior outside hitter Gabby Blossom, who had a team-high 12 kills. Sophomore outside hitter Grace Frohling added 10 kills, and junior middle blocker Breana Edwards had nine kills.
USD hit .182 as a team, while SMU hit .270. The Mustangs also had a 10-5 advantage in blocks.
The Toreros will be back in action on Friday night when they take on Hawaii at the SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.
