Tube strikes: Elizabeth line and Overground disrupted after person hit by train
TfL Rail services also affected as major delays hit morning commute
Commuters face major disruption across London's Underground network this morning after a person was hit by a train at Paddington station.
The incident has caused severe delays on the Elizabeth line, which only reopened last week after strikes paralysed services for three days. Overground and TfL Rail services are also affected.
The person was reportedly hit by a train on the eastbound Elizabeth line shortly before 6am. All Elizabeth line services between Paddington and Reading were suspended, while services between Paddington and Heathrow were running with severe delays.
The Overground is also experiencing severe delays between Romford and Richmond due to the incident. TfL Rail services between Paddington and Heathrow are also running with severe delays.
TfL is advising commuters to avoid the area and to seek alternative routes. It is not yet known how long the disruptions will last.
What is the Elizabeth line?
The Elizabeth line is a new railway line that runs through central London. It opened on 24 May 2022 and is operated by TfL.
The line connects Paddington in the west to Abbey Wood in the east, and has 41 stations. It is expected to carry 200 million passengers a year.
What caused the delays?
The delays are being caused by a person being hit by a train at Paddington station.
