Conte demands win after Villa mauling

Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte has demanded a response from his players when they host Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday.

Spurs were thrashed 4-0 at Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, with Conte admitting afterwards that his team were “not good enough”.

The Italian has now called on his players to show their character and bounce back against Villa in the Premier League.

"We have to react," said Conte. "We have to show that we are a team that wants to fight for something important. We have to show that we are a team that wants to improve and be competitive. This is the only way that we can show our fans that we are ready to fight for something important."

Villa, meanwhile, will be looking to build on their Carabao Cup win over Spurs when they travel to north London on Saturday.

Dean Smith's side have won their last three Premier League games and will be confident of causing Tottenham problems.

The match is poised to be a close one, with both teams in need of points. Tottenham are currently eighth in the Premier League table, while Villa are 10th.
