Reid Detmers Returning to Start for Angels

Left-handed pitcher Reid Detmers will make his first start of the 2023 season on Sunday against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Detmers, 23, made 31 starts for the Angels last season, posting a 3.80 ERA and 1.13 WHIP in 168 2/3 innings pitched.

With Detmers returning, the Angels now have seven starters on their 40-man roster.

Manager Phil Nevin has not yet announced whether the team will use a six-man rotation, but it is a possibility.

The Angels' pitching staff is a mix of players acquired by former general manager Billy Eppler and current GM Perry Minasian.

Eppler's guys include Detmers, Patrick Sandoval, and Jose Suarez.

Minasian's guys include Tyler Anderson, Tucker Davidson, and Chase Silseth.
