Strike action on London Underground as RMT and ASLEF announce strikes
RMT and ASLEF have announced separate strike actions on the London Underground, causing major disruption to services.
The RMT strike will take place on 1 and 3 March, while the ASLEF strike will take place on 15 March. Both strikes are in protest over pay and working conditions.
The RMT strike is expected to cause significant disruption to services on the London Underground, with many stations expected to be closed and no trains running on some lines.
The ASLEF strike is also expected to cause disruption, although it is not expected to be as severe as the RMT strike.
Passengers are advised to check before they travel and to consider alternative routes.
The RMT strike is the latest in a series of industrial actions by the union in recent months. The union has been calling for a pay rise of 7%, while Transport for London (TfL) has offered a pay rise of 4%. The union has also been protesting against plans to cut jobs and close ticket offices.
The ASLEF strike is the first strike by the union in over a decade. The union is calling for a pay rise of 8%, while TfL has offered a pay rise of 4%. The union has also been protesting against plans to introduce driverless trains on the London Underground.
TfL has said that it is "disappointed" by the decision of both unions to strike and that it is "committed to resolving these disputes through negotiation".
