Storm Win Series Opener on Sunday

The Seattle Storm earned a much-needed 89-70 victory over the Connecticut Sun on Sunday behind Breanna Stewart's 29 points.

Stewart also grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out 5 assists for the Storm, who snapped a two-game losing streak.

Jewell Loyd added 17 points for Seattle, while Gabby Williams chipped in 12 points.

The Sun bounced back with a 94-86 victory over the Storm in the second game of the series on Monday.

Alyssa Thomas led the way for Connecticut with 23 points and 11 rebounds.

Brionna Jones added 21 points and DeWanna Bonner chipped in 18 points for the Sun.

Stewart finished with 20 points and 8 rebounds for Seattle.

The split keeps the Storm in the hunt for a playoff berth.

Seattle is now 17-14 on the season, good for sixth place in the WNBA standings.

The Storm will be back in action on Thursday when they host the Los Angeles Sparks.

The Storm showed their resilience by battling back from a tough loss on Sunday to earn a split of their two-game set with the Sun.

Stewart continues to be a force for Seattle, and Loyd and Williams are also playing well.

The Storm will need to continue to play well down the stretch if they want to secure a playoff berth.
