Sam Darnold Fantasy Hub: Week 9 Injury Update, Start ‘Em/Sit ‘Em Advice, Points Projections, and More
Injury Update
Sam Darnold did not practice on Wednesday due to a shoulder injury. Darnold is dealing with a sprained AC joint, which occurred in the Panthers' Week 8 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. The injury is not considered serious, but it could limit Darnold's practice time this week.
Darnold is currently listed as questionable for the Panthers' Week 9 game against the New England Patriots. If Darnold is unable to play, backup quarterback P.J. Walker will start in his place.
Start ‘Em/Sit ‘Em Advice
If Darnold is active for Week 9, he should be considered a low-end QB2. The Patriots have a tough pass defense, so Darnold is not a great start this week. However, if you are desperate for a quarterback, Darnold could be a decent option in two-QB leagues.
If Darnold is inactive, Walker would be a low-end QB3. Walker is a capable backup, but he is not a great fantasy option. He is best suited for two-QB leagues or in deep leagues where you need a streamer.
Points Projections
Darnold is projected to score 15-18 fantasy points this week if he plays. Walker is projected to score 10-13 fantasy points if he starts.
