Quincy Jones, a legendary music producer who worked with some of the biggest names in music history, has died at the age of 85.
Jones' death was announced by his family in a statement released on Thursday, August 25th, 2023. The statement did not provide a cause of death.
Jones was born in Chicago in 1933 and began his music career as a trumpeter. He went on to work with some of the biggest names in music, including Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, and Aretha Franklin.
Jones was also a successful film producer and television producer. He produced the film "The Color Purple" in 1985, and the television series "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" in the 1990s.
Jones was a Grammy Award-winning producer and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Lipton, and his seven children.
