PM's official trips have cost RM13.7mil as of October, Parliament told

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 14 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s official trips abroad have cost the government RM13.7 million as of October this year, the Dewan Rakyat was told today.

Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said the expenses covered various costs, including flight tickets, accommodation, transportation, and allowances for the prime minister and his delegation.

“The expenses were incurred for 10 official trips made by the prime minister from November 2022 to October 2023,” he said in a written reply to Pasir Gudang MP Hassan Abdul Karim.

Ahmad Maslan said the government is committed to ensuring that all official trips are conducted in a cost-effective and transparent manner.

“The Prime Minister's Office has implemented various measures to control and reduce expenses, including negotiating for lower flight fares, selecting affordable accommodation, and limiting the size of the delegation,” he said.

He added that the government will continue to monitor and review the expenses incurred for the prime minister’s official trips to ensure that they are justified and in line with the country’s financial position.
