Phillies’ Schwarber Blasts Leadoff Home Run vs. Blue Jays

Schwarber's homer highlights Phillies' explosive start

Phillies take early lead in series opener

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Kyle Schwarber continued his hot start to the season with a leadoff home run in his team's 7-4 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday night at Citizens Bank Park.

The solo shot was Schwarber's fifth of the season and gave the Phillies an early 1-0 lead. It also extended his hitting streak to seven games.

Schwarber's homer was part of a three-run first inning for the Phillies, who chased Blue Jays starter Yusei Kikuchi from the game after just two-thirds of an inning.

The Phillies added two more runs in the second inning off reliever Tim Mayza and two more in the fourth off Bowden Francis to build a 7-1 lead.

The Blue Jays got two runs back in the fifth inning on a Bo Bichette home run and an RBI single by Matt Chapman, but that was as close as they would come.
