Paul Nicholls has two leading contenders for the Cheltenham Gold Cup this season in Frodon and Clan Des Obeaux, and he is confident that both horses have what it takes to win the race.

Frodon is a seven-year-old gelding who has won eight of his 14 career starts, including the Ryanair Chase at the Cheltenham Festival in 2019.

Clan Des Obeaux is an eight-year-old gelding who has won seven of his 13 career starts, including the King George VI Chase at Kempton Park in 2018 and 2019.

Nicholls said that both horses are in good form and are on track for the Gold Cup.

"Frodon is a very good horse," Nicholls said. "He's tough and he stays well. He's a horse that I think can win a Gold Cup."

"Clan Des Obeaux is a class horse," Nicholls said. "He's a very good jumper and he has a lot of stamina. He's a horse that I think can win a Gold Cup."

The Cheltenham Gold Cup is the most prestigious race in National Hunt racing. It is a Grade 1 race run over a distance of about three miles and two and a half furlongs at Cheltenham Racecourse in Gloucestershire, England.

The race is open to horses aged five years and upwards, and it is one of the most challenging races in the world. The Gold Cup is the highlight of the Cheltenham Festival, which is held in March each year.
