Panthers Reinforce WR and CB Positions with Jordan Matthews' Promotion
Matthews to Start at Wide Receiver
In a move to bolster their receiving corps, the Carolina Panthers have promoted wide receiver Jordan Matthews to the active roster ahead of their Week 9 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. Matthews, who was signed to the practice squad in October, will reportedly start in place of injured wideout Curtis Samuel, who is sidelined with a hamstring injury.
Depth Added at Cornerback
The Panthers have also made a move to reinforce their cornerback depth, elevating Madre Harper from the practice squad. Harper, who has appeared in 12 games for the Panthers over the past two seasons, will provide depth behind starters Jaycee Horn and Donte Jackson.
Matthews Brings Experience and Versatility
Matthews, a seven-year NFL veteran, brings a wealth of experience and versatility to the Panthers' offense. He has recorded over 3,000 receiving yards and 23 touchdowns in his career, and is known for his ability to line up at multiple receiver positions.
Harper Bolsters Secondary
Harper's promotion adds depth to a Panthers secondary that has been depleted by injuries. Horn missed last week's game with a foot injury, while Jackson has been dealing with a hamstring issue. Harper's experience and familiarity with the Panthers' defensive scheme make him a valuable addition to the unit.
Panthers Prepare for Bengals
With Matthews and Harper now on the active roster, the Panthers will look to improve their record to 5-4 when they host the Bengals on Sunday. The Bengals are coming off a bye week and will be looking to extend their winning streak to three games.
