Neal Maupay seals Olympique de Marseille move

FC Nantes striker joins Ligue 1 rivals in a deal worth up to €10m

Neal Maupay has joined Olympique de Marseille from Ligue 1 rivals FC Nantes in a deal worth up to €10m (£8.5m). The 26-year-old forward has signed a three-year contract with the Stade Velodrome outfit.

Maupay scored 10 goals in 38 Ligue 1 appearances for Nantes last season, helping them finish ninth in the table.

He has previously played for Saint-Etienne and Brentford, and has also been capped by France at Under-21 level.

"I am very happy to join Olympique de Marseille," Maupay said. "It is a great club with a lot of history and ambition. I am looking forward to playing in front of the fans and helping the team achieve its goals."

Marseille finished second in Ligue 1 last season, securing a place in the Champions League group stage.

They have been busy in the transfer market this summer, signing a number of players including Alexis Sanchez, Nuno Tavares and Chancel Mbemba.

Maupay's arrival is a further boost to their squad, and he will be expected to play a key role in their bid to challenge for the Ligue 1 title this season.
