New Jersey Lieutenant Governor Dies at 67

Trenton, N.J. (AP) - New Jersey Lt. Gov. Sheila Oliver has died at the age of 67, Governor Phil Murphy announced on Wednesday, August 10, 2023.

Oliver served as lieutenant governor since 2018 and was the first woman and first African American to hold the position.

Murphy expressed his condolences in a statement, saying, "Sheila Oliver was a trailblazer, a champion for the people of New Jersey, and a dear friend. Her legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched."
