Lieutenant Governor Awards BC
Overview
The Lieutenant Governor Awards are presented annually to recognize outstanding British Columbians who have made significant contributions to their communities and the province as a whole.
The awards are given in three categories: the Order of British Columbia, the Medal of Good Citizenship, and the Lieutenant Governor's Youth Medal.
Order of British Columbia
Eligibility
- Nominees must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of British Columbia.
- Nominees must have made outstanding contributions to the province in any field of endeavor.
- Nominees must be of good character and reputation.
Selection Process
The Order of British Columbia is awarded by the Lieutenant Governor on the recommendation of an independent advisory council.
The council considers the following criteria when evaluating nominations:
- The significance of the nominee's contributions to British Columbia.
- The nominee's character and reputation.
- The nominee's impact on the province.
Medal of Good Citizenship
Eligibility
- Nominees must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of British Columbia.
- Nominees must have made significant contributions to their communities in any field of endeavor.
- Nominees must be of good character and reputation.

The Medal of Good Citizenship is awarded by the Lieutenant Governor on the recommendation of an independent advisory council.

Lieutenant Governor's Youth Medal
Eligibility
- Nominees must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of British Columbia.
- Nominees must be between the ages of 16 and 24.
- Nominees must have made significant contributions to their communities in any field of endeavor.
- Nominees must be of good character and reputation.
Selection Process
The Lieutenant Governor's Youth Medal is awarded by the Lieutenant Governor on the recommendation of an independent advisory council.
The council considers the following criteria when evaluating nominations:
- The significance of the nominee's contributions to their community.
- The nominee's character and reputation.
- The nominee's impact on the community.
