John Barrett (34) dies following incident at Belmullet Pier

Emergency services attended scene but Barrett was pronounced dead at the scene

Gardaí are investigating the circumstances of the incident

John Barrett (34), from Glencastle, Bunnahowen, Belmullet, was pronounced dead at the scene following an incident at Belmullet Pier on Saturday morning, November 11th 2023.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident at around 7.30am and Gardaí and the Coast Guard attended the scene.

Mr Barrett was recovered from the water and pronounced dead at the scene. His body was removed to Mayo University Hospital where a post-mortem examination will be carried out.
