Innovation in Worcestershire: Supporting Small and Medium-Sized Businesses
Government funding to boost Worcestershire's entrepreneurial ecosystem
The Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) has secured £1.9 million in government funding to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the county. The funding will be used to create a new Innovation Hub, which will provide SMEs with access to the latest technology, training, and business support.
The Innovation Hub will be located at Malvern Hills Science Park and will be operated by the University of Worcester. The hub will offer a range of services to SMEs, including:
- Access to cutting-edge technology and equipment
- Business support and mentoring
- Training and development programs
The Innovation Hub is expected to open in 2024 and is expected to create up to 100 new jobs.
The funding is part of the government's wider strategy to support innovation and economic growth in the UK. The government has committed to investing £200 million in innovation hubs across the country.
The Worcestershire LEP is a public-private partnership that brings together businesses, local authorities, and education providers to support economic growth in the county. The LEP has identified innovation as a key priority for Worcestershire and is working to create an environment that supports businesses to innovate and grow.
The new Innovation Hub is a welcome addition to Worcestershire's business support ecosystem and is expected to make a significant contribution to the county's economy.
