HP CEO Meg Whitman steps down, Antonio Neri takes over

Whitman to remain on board as board chair

Neri was previously HP Enterprise president

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has announced that Meg Whitman is stepping down as CEO, to be replaced by Antonio Neri. Whitman will remain on the board as chair.

Neri has been with HPE since 2017, when he was appointed president of HP Enterprise.

Whitman joined HP in 2011, and during her tenure, she oversaw the split of the company into two separate entities: HP Inc. and HPE.

Under her leadership, HPE has also made a number of acquisitions, including SimpliVity, Nimble Storage, and Aruba Networks.

In a statement, Whitman said that she is "proud of what we have accomplished together at HPE."

She added that she is "confident that Antonio is the right person to lead HPE into its next chapter."

Neri said that he is "honoured to be appointed CEO of HPE."

He added that he is "committed to continuing to build on the strong foundation that Meg has laid."

Analysts say that Neri's appointment is a sign of continuity for HPE.

Patrick Moorhead, an analyst at Moor Insights & Strategy, said that Neri is "a well-respected leader within HPE."

He added that Neri has "the experience and the vision to lead HPE into the future."
