Earthquake strikes central Greece
Tremors felt across the region
No reports of injuries or major damage
A moderate earthquake has struck central Greece, with tremors felt across the region. The quake, which had a magnitude of 5.3, occurred at 22:32 GMT on Wednesday, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).
The epicenter was located 13 kilometers (8 miles) south of the city of Thessaloniki, Greece's second-largest city, at a depth of 10 kilometers (6 miles).
There have been no reports of injuries or major damage, according to the Civil Protection Ministry. However, the quake caused some minor damage to buildings and infrastructure in the area.
"We felt the quake very strongly. It shook the building for a few seconds," said one resident of Thessaloniki who asked not to be named.
The quake was also felt in neighboring countries, including Turkey, Bulgaria, and Albania.
Greece is located in a seismically active region and experiences regular earthquakes.
