Christoph Kramer: From World Cup Triumph to ZDF Expert
Former German international Christoph Kramer has announced his retirement from professional football and will join ZDF as an expert.
Kramer, who won the World Cup with Germany in 2014, made the announcement on his social media channels on Wednesday.
The 31-year-old midfielder has been without a club since leaving Borussia Mönchengladbach at the end of last season.
Kramer made his professional debut for Gladbach in 2011 and went on to make over 200 appearances for the club.
He also had spells with Bayer Leverkusen, Bochum and Greuther Fürth.
Kramer was part of the Germany squad that won the World Cup in 2014, but he missed the final due to a concussion.
He also won the DFB-Pokal with Gladbach in 2019.
Kramer will now join ZDF as an expert, where he will provide analysis and commentary on football matches.
He will also be involved in ZDF's coverage of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
"I am very excited to join ZDF," Kramer said.
"I have always enjoyed talking about football and I am looking forward to sharing my insights with the viewers."
ZDF's head of sports, Thomas Fuhrmann, said:
"We are delighted to welcome Christoph Kramer to our team of experts."
"He is a highly respected player and a great communicator.
I am confident that he will be a valuable addition to our team."
