Augsburg Task for KSC in DFB Cup
Matchup is a reunion for KSC coach Eichner
Karlsruhe will play FC Augsburg in the DFB Cup Round of 16. This was determined by the draw at the German Football Museum in Dortmund on Sunday evening.
For KSC coach Alois Schwartz, the match is a reunion with his former club. Schwartz coached FCA from 2016 to 2019.
The match will be played on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at the WWK Arena in Augsburg. The kick-off time has not yet been set.
KSC has a good record against Augsburg
KSC has a positive record against Augsburg. In the last five matches, KSC has won three and drawn one. The last meeting was in the 2019/20 season, when KSC won 2-1 at home.
However, FCA is currently in better form. In the Bundesliga, Augsburg is in 12th place with 18 points from 14 matches. KSC is in 13th place with 16 points from 14 matches.
"We are looking forward to the match against Augsburg," said KSC coach Alois Schwartz. "It will be a difficult match, but we want to reach the quarter-finals."
FC Augsburg is a tough opponent
FC Augsburg is a Bundesliga club based in Augsburg, Bavaria. The club was founded in 1907 and currently plays in the Bundesliga, the top tier of German football.
FCA has a long and proud history, having won the German Cup on two occasions, in 1969 and 2004. The club has also competed in European competition on several occasions, reaching the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League in 2016.
FCA's current squad is a mix of experienced and young players. The team is led by captain Jeffrey Gouweleeuw, a Dutch defender. Other key players include Ruben Vargas, a Swiss winger, and Daniel Caligiuri, a German midfielder.
