Arminia Bielefeld: Flattening against Darmstadt
Bielefeld loses home game 0:1 - Klos dissatisfied
Trainer Kniat hopes for a liberating victory against Sandhausen
Bielefeld - It was a defeat that leaves traces. After the 0:1 (0:0) home defeat against SV Darmstadt 98, the players of Arminia Bielefeld slumped exhausted on the lawn. The whistles of the 13,144 spectators echoed through the stadium, the mood was down.
Coach Mitch Kniat spoke of a "deserved defeat". His team had "too little access to the game" and was "too harmless in the opponent's half". The winning goal by Mathias Honsak in the 54th minute was "the logical consequence".
It was the second home defeat of the season for Arminia, and the third defeat in a row. The gap to the relegation zone is now only four points. "Of course, we're not happy with the situation," said Kniat. "But we have to keep working and believing in ourselves."
Captain Fabian Klos was also disappointed. "We didn't play well enough today," said the striker. "We have to improve our performance quickly, otherwise we will continue to get into trouble."
Kniat is now hoping for a liberating victory in the next game against SV Sandhausen on Saturday (13:00). "We have to win this game," said the 46-year-old. "Otherwise, it will be very difficult for us to stay in the league."
